Between the Two Adams

“While the people were being immersed, Yeshua was being immersed. As he was praying, heaven was opened, The Rauch HaKodesh came down on him in physical form like a dove, and a voice came from heaven. “You are my Son, whom I love, I am well pleased with you.”
Luke: 21-22 (CJB)

Immersion, and The Blessing of The Father marking the genesis of Jesus’ public ministry …

Then the Scripture immediately recounts Jesus’ lineage – back to Adam – – a delineation I would easily gloss over, except that The Father arrests me long enough to see Him trace the generations of the Second Adam to the First. Such that the focus is not so much on the progeny, but on the Adams.

Our lives can be a sort of bridge where we find ourselves maneuvering between the two Adams. Our first birth is into the First Adam. Explaining our wayward flesh – always straying and lusting after sin – the fruit of the First Adam – who was CREATED in the image of God, yet powerless over sin, and actually introducing death. And how unlike the Second Adam; who’s heart was inclined unto communion with the Father: “As he was praying ….. heaven was opened, The Holy Spirit came down on him in physical form LIKE a dove:” The Second Adam positioning himself for the type of communion that effected agency, power, and, favored identity as a beloved SON with ultimate blessing “… You are my Son, whom I love, I am well pleased with you.”

This is the heritage available to The Believer: The Second Birth, into the Second Adam. Born into the Christ who is established in prayer, power, position, and preference – gifts we cannot attain. He alone holds the power to descend and to ascend, to rescue and redeem, and to clothe to cover our rebellious souls; even to the extent of yielding His own life and boldly proclaiming “… I have come that you may have life, life in its fullest measure.” (John 10:10) – And those are the priceless, ultimate gifts of life in its fullest measure afforded to us (Indeed He is the precious gift of life –“I am the way, the truth, and the life.” John 14:6).

Where the first Adam ultimately became an agent of death …
(“. . . For as Adam all die 1 Corinthians 15:21-22), Life in Yeshua is made manifest in our yielding, receiving, wearing, bearing and sharing the gifts; indeed in sharing the Life-giver. What unmerited favor, what privileged hope. What great mercy.
